Tracy raises $86,370 in 28 days for Senate Campaign

Tracy also has over $325,000 cash-on-hand for November election

(Murfreesboro, TN) - State Senator Jim Tracy today announced that he raised $86,370 in the Pre-Primary reporting period, covering July1 through July 28, in his bid for the Tennessee State Senate, bringing his cumulative amount raised for the election to $412,615. Sen. Tracy also has $325,236.89 cash-on-hand as of July 29, 2008. These fundraising numbers reflect Sen. Tracy’s wide support among Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

“The support I have received and continue to receive is truly humbling,” Tracy said. “I have worked hard, crossing party lines, to get results for the 16th District and I think these fundraising numbers reflect the significant support I am receiving from individuals of all walks of life.”

“What I am most proud of though, is that over half of the contributions to my campaign in this period are in amounts of $100 or less,” Tracy said. “Also, over 80% of contributors in this period are from the district. This shows the significant amount of local grassroots support my campaign is receiving.”

“But this campaign will not be won on dollars and cents, rather by votes of the people of Rutherford, Bedford, and Moore Counties,” Tracy said. “This campaign is going to be about moving our economy forward, providing the necessary tools and resources for our schools, and working for solutions to illegal immigration.”

“Just as I did in 2004, I am committed to running a grassroots campaign,” said Tracy. “That’s why, to date, my campaign has knocked on over 8,500 doors. I am taking my campaign to the doorsteps of the voters in this district.”

The 16th Senatorial District includes most of Rutherford County and all of Bedford and Moore Counties. Tracy is uncontested in the Republican primary and will face the winner of a contested primary between Democrats Dee Butler and Jean Anne Rogers.
